The educational ideals of Seisen University are based on Christian Humanism.
Believing that we are created with dignity, we are committed to developing genuine
wisdom through education, independence, and self-awareness, as well as love and
respect for the humanity of others in order to realize the true value of each
person and the world.
Under the motto of "VERITAS et CARITAS," Seisen provides quality education to
achieve the following:
- 1. The seeking of universal truth through academic studies, enhancing awareness of humanity, human relations, the relationship between human beings and the environment, and respect toward different cultures and characteristics.
- 2. The formation of independent characters that enable students to study and face real issues with the ability to think, judge, express, and act.
- 3. To be respectable members of human society who can value and respect the humanity of ourselves and others having love of humanity.
Mission and Responsibility of Seisen Students:
Students at Seisen are to understand, adhere to, and act according to the
mission and ideals of the university, so as to make contributions to society.
They are to break away from self-centered thoughts. They are to be considerate
of others, that is, to be involved actively and dedicated to social service.
In other words, it is the mission of the students of Seisen to make efforts
to ease the suffering of people in hardship, to lend a hand and render assistance
to people who deserve to be respected as human beings and to enjoy the happiness
they deserve. By such efforts they are to realize justice and peace in Japan
and the world.
To fulfill the mission stated above, it is the responsibility of students at
Seisen to have an academic attitude and to seek truth with an awareness of issues
and with enthusiasm toward their studies. They are not to act driven by compulsion
or emotion. They are to be equipped with the ability to judge objectively after
reflecting upon matters.
Students should also actively participate in departmental activities and extra
curricular activities, so as to nurture the spirit of cooperation, placing importance
on the goodness of the whole before their own benefit. Students are expected
to be personable, following the tradition of Seisen.
